Their divorce is a plot addition laden with potential that goes unfulfilled, their long-distance exchanges turning the show into cheesy telenovela via telephone, undercutting the character of Camila,Queen of the South Season 1 DVD who comes off more clueless than queenpin, and boring viewers in the process. If you haven't read the book, I highly and heartily suggest you do. It was so good that when I finished the last page, I immediately turned right back to the first, and knowing what's in it won't interfere with enjoyment of the show. That's because both are studies of character told in stories about the journey,Queen of the South Season 1 not the destination. The book version is better, as is usually the case, but the show has enough to it to keep me watching.
